Hey Sydney! Great genius hour project! I really enjoyed looking through your blog and following the progress you and your BF were making while he was learning a new language and as you were teaching him. I like how you had a clear progression throughout your weeks for your blog posts, I can tell it was well thought out from the beginning of the project and you were able to follow this guide you made for yourself. I enjoyed listening to your TED Talk and thought it was really well done, also the overall aesthetic of your blog is great! One thing I would have enjoyed was seeing more images or videos of this process as it makes me (the reader) become more connected to the experience being able to visualize this relationship! Overall great work and I hope you have a great rest of your year and a great summer as well.
I've been following your project since the beginning, since I was already really interested in it. I loved your idea so much! It must be so satisfying to have worked with your partner to learn something new together (for the both of you - him French, and you teaching French).
One wish: - I would have liked to see a little bit more relating to listening. I know that it was about him learning to speak French, but it would be cool to see how much more complex he could go if it only involved listening. Maybe a funny "blooper-type" video where you have him listen to some select French clips and get him to guess what it was about.
Two stars: - Your badge system was awesome. You could totally incorporate this into your classes, and I will for mine as well. I love it! I also loved that you recognized that it's okay to need a little extra time for a badge. Thanks so much for showing us how to work gamification into our courses.
- Your blog was super clear and easy to follow. You didn't ramble on, but you also weren't missing any important information. I also liked that you included videos so that you weren't only describing in writing what he was doing and how he was progressing. That mixed media really helped make the blog more appealing.
Great work Sydney - truly an awesome project, and I hope you and your partner are both really proud of yourselves!
